Embark on an exhilarating journey to Little Corn Island that will take your breath away. Your adventure begins as you fly from Managua to Big Corn Island on La Costea airlines. From there, get ready for an adrenaline-pumping ride on a "panga," a passenger ferry, to reach the stunning paradise of Little Corn Island. As you arrive at the terminal, the excitement builds. Grab your luggage, pass through the baggage check, and head to the parking area to catch a taxi. Make sure to inform the driver that you're heading to the "panga wharf" where the boat to Little Corn awaits. The taxi ride itself is a steal, costing only 30 cordobas per person. However, be prepared for the taxi driver's persuasion to stay on Big Corn, as they receive a commission from local hotels. Stay determined and stick to your plan of reaching the panga wharf. Once you arrive, secure your ticket for the panga ride. The pangas depart twice daily, offering you the perfect opportunity to experience the breathtaking beauty of the islands. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the 30-45 minute ride, which can sometimes be thrillingly bumpy and wet. Choose your seat wisely, with the back of the boat providing a smoother ride, while the front offers a drier experience. It's advisable to sit on your life vest to alleviate any discomfort on rough days (although safety regulations emphasize wearing it). These exhilarating pangas have a watertight storage compartment for your luggage, ensuring a worry-free journey. If you plan to carry any personal items, make sure they're securely stored in watertight bags for added protection. The pangas prioritize safety, and after a rare accident in early 2016, they no longer operate during rough sea conditions. On such rare days, a larger boat is available, providing a two-hour journey from Little Corn Island to Big Corn Island. Although a bit challenging, this option allows you to witness the mesmerizing beauty of the islands amidst the elements. During busier months, additional pangas may be added to accommodate the high demand, allowing you to experience the islands' magic without any constraints. If you desire to explore both islands, allocate most of your time to Little Corn Island, reserving your last day on Big Corn Island to create lasting memories. As you plan your return to Managua, make sure to spend your last night on the big island to avoid any worries about potential weather-related panga delays. Embrace the rhythm of island life and immerse yourself in the magic of Little Corn, where time seems to stand still. It's no wonder that visitors often find themselves extending their stay, captivated by the allure of this tropical paradise.
