Explore the beautiful and resilient Little Andaman Island, which, despite being ravaged by the 2004 tsunami, has made a remarkable comeback. Discover the rudimentary hotels that have been built on the island, offering a unique and immersive experience. Venture into the tribal reserves of Dugong Creek and the South Bay area, reserved exclusively for the Onge tribe. While these areas are off-limits to tourists, you can still explore the Nicobari reserves located south of Hut Bay for a memorable adventure.
Get in
Exploring Little Andaman requires some tenacity and flexibility when it comes to ferry schedules. Since the sinking of a ferry in 2014, the system has changed, and the schedule is now released without regularity from the main ferry office in Port Blair. But fear not! You can still show up at the ferry terminal and buy tickets at the time of departure. Keep in mind that these last-minute tickets may come with a premium price. So, if you're up for an adventure, embrace the unpredictability and embark on your journey to Little Andaman. As of March 2017, ferry ticketing has become much more organized. Government ferries operate from Port Blair to Hut Bay, offering a day journey that takes approximately 6-8 hours, depending on the vessel. The normal ticket price is 75 p.P, but if you're looking for a more comfortable experience, you can opt for the ordinary cabin with bunk beds, air conditioning, and private space for 275 p.P. Tickets can be purchased at Phoenix Bay Jetty, while the ferry departs from Haddo Wharf. Unfortunately, the previous link to check schedules and fares is no longer supported. Fast forward to September 2019, tickets to Hut Bay range from 525 (deck) to 1575 (deluxe). Advanced tickets are issued at Phoenix Bay Jetty, or you can take a chance and show up at Haddo Wharf before the departure to secure a ticket if there are vacancies. Foreigners should remember to carry a few copies of their passport and visa page when buying tickets, as permits have been canceled. Are you ready to embark on this exciting journey to Little Andaman?
