Understand
Lishui, a city with a rich and ancient history, has been home to tribes for over 4000 years during the Liangzhu Culture period. It has witnessed the rise and fall of different dynasties, each leaving its mark on the region. From the establishment of Chuzhou by the Sui Dynasty to the renaming of Kuozhou, Yongjia County, Jinyun County, and back to Kuozhou, the city's name has evolved over time. Finally, in 779 during the Tang Dynasty, it became known as Lishui County. The area went through further changes during the Yuan Dynasty and the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but ultimately returned to its current name. In the modern era, Lishui has seen administrative changes, from being a part of the Lishui Administrative Supervision District to becoming the Lishui Special District, and later, Lishui City. Today, Liandu District serves as the administrative headquarters, overseeing the surrounding Longquan, Qingtian, Jinyun, Yunhe, Qingyuan, Suichang, Songyang, and Jingning areas.
