The Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail is a long and adventurous trail that spans approximately 3,700 miles. It takes you from Wood River, Illinois to the mouth of the Columbia River in Oregon, following the same paths that the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition took. This incredible trail was created by Congress in the National Scenic and National Historic Trails law and is now a joint effort between various organizations and agencies. While the NPS administers the trail, the sites along the trail are managed by federal land management agencies, state, local, tribal, and private organizations.
