Leamington Spa is a charming spa town renowned for its beautiful Regency architecture and picturesque parks. Similar to Bath and Cheltenham, Leamington gained its grandeur in the early 19th century as a fashionable resort destination. Built as a new town in the 19th century, Leamington features wide streets arranged in a north/south aligned grid, characteristic of planned towns. It was established on the site of a smaller, older village called Leamington Priors, and some remnants of its past still exist, located just east of the parish church. Today, Leamington primarily serves as a commuter town for Coventry and Birmingham. Its population also swells during the academic term with students from the nearby University of Warwick.
