Visiting Lakshadweep, whether you are from India or any other country, requires a special permit. The easiest way to obtain this permit is by booking a package tour through the government's official tour operator, SPORTS. They can assist with all the necessary arrangements. For foreign visitors, it is essential to have accommodation booked in advance to be allowed entry to the islands. The permitted islands for foreigners are Agatti, Bangaram, and Kadmat, with a transit duration of up to 12 hours in Kavaratti. Indian visitors have the opportunity to explore additional islands, although availability of accommodation is quite limited (see Sleep section for more details). To reach Lakshadweep, most travelers pass through Kochi, a city that serves as a gateway to this exquisite archipelago. Options for transportation include flights and ships, providing diverse choices for an unforgettable journey.
