Looking to explore the beautiful Laguna de Apoyo in Nicaragua? Here are a few ways to get there: - If you're coming from Granada, head north on the Carratera Masaya to KM 37.5 and turn left. Follow the signs that will lead you to Laguna de Apoyo. - If you're coming from Managua, head south on the Carratera Masaya to KM 37.5 and turn right. Follow the signs that will lead you to Laguna de Apoyo. - If you prefer taking a taxi, you can find many taxi drivers offering rides for around $10 - $15. Bargaining may be required! - Another option is to take a shared minibus from Hostel Oasis in Granada. It's only US$6 for a round trip or US$6 one way (as of Jan 2015). The minibus runs a couple of times a day. - If you're up for a local experience, take a bus from Masaya. There are at least three buses a day, with one departing early at 6am. Alternatively, you can take a bus from Granada to Managua (or vice versa) and ask to be let off at the Laguna de Apoyo entrance, then take a mototaxi. - Remember, if you're going to the crater rim, there are more frequent buses, but you'll have to walk (a long distance) down the hill or take a taxi. - A taxi ride from Granada or Masaya to Laguna de Apoyo should take about 30 minutes and cost approximately US$10-15 (remember to bargain!)
