Get in
Traveling to La Merced from Huancayo? Hop on a bus at the multi-company terminal on Av. Ferrocarril. The journey takes approximately 4 hours, allowing you to enjoy the stunning scenery along the way. If you're coming from Lima, there are night buses to La Merced. Most bus companies depart from Lima between 8-10 pm and arrive in La Merced early in the morning. You can find these buses at Av. 28 Julio in La Victoria. For a reliable and safe journey, I recommend traveling with Molina or Transmar, two reputable bus companies. It's important to note that the route from Lima to the jungle, known as the Carretera Central, can sometimes experience delays due to accidents, landslides, or strikes. This is the only road into the jungle, so be sure to inquire about the current situation when purchasing your ticket. Additionally, I suggest packing extra water and snacks for the trip, as well as altitude sickness medication, especially if you're sensitive to high altitudes. Embark on this adventure and savor the breathtaking landscapes that Peru has to offer on your way to La Merced!
