Welcome to Kuala Kubu Bharu, affectionately known as KKB! Nestled at the foothill of Frasers Hill, this charming small town has a rich history that dates back to the 18th century. Originally, there was a town nearby called Kuala Kubu, but tragedy struck in February 1883 when a devastating flood caused by a broken dam ravaged the area. Sadly, many lives were lost and homes were destroyed, including that of Sir Cecil Ranking, a prominent district officer during the British era. Amidst the destruction, a Buddhist temple and a mosque stood resiliently, serving as symbols of hope. The surviving remnants of the town thereafter became known as Ampang Pecah, or Broken Dam, in the local Malay language, as seen in the photo. This catastrophic event, known as the Tragedi Kuala Kubu, prompted the British government to make a courageous decision - to build a new town near the remains of Kuala Kubu. Thus, Kuala Kubu Bharu was born, with "Bharu" meaning "new" in Malay. Today, Kuala Kubu Bharu stands as a testament to resilience and rebirth. Explore its fascinating history, discover its cultural landmarks and embrace the warmth of its community. Come immerse yourself in the allure of KKB!
