To reach Kodagu, the nearest railway station is Mysore, about 100 kms away. However, the buses that connect Kodagu to nearby Karnataka cities like Mysore and Mangalore are frequent and reliable. The bus journey takes around 4-5 hours, and although it can be a bit rough and winding, it is an inexpensive option. If you are coming from Bangalore or Mysore, it is highly recommended to rent a cab. Public transport in the Coorg district is not very effective, and the tourist attractions are spread across the district. By taking a cab, you will have the flexibility to explore at your own pace and also get better rates. If you are traveling from Bangalore or Mysore, consider including a visit to Bylanakuppe, home to a Tibetan monastery, as it is conveniently en route.
