Get in
Traveling to Ko Laan from Pattaya is an adventure waiting to happen! The most common way to reach the island is by taking a regular ferry from Bali Hai Pier. At just 30 baht per person, this is an affordable and exciting option. The journey takes about 1 hour, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the scenic views along the way. Bali Hai Pier is conveniently located near Pattaya Walking Street in South Pattaya. To get there, you can hire a songteow and negotiate the fare based on the distance and number of people in your group. If you're traveling from the bus stop in Ranong to Bangkok, the hire cost was only 150 baht for two persons, which is quite reasonable considering the distance traveled. Do keep in mind that the ferry will only take you to the main pier in Ko Laan and not any of the beaches. Traveling directly from Bangkok? No problem! You can take a minibus from Victory Monument that will transport you directly to Bali Hai Pier. Once you arrive at Bali Hai Pier, make your way through the area until you reach the speedboat operators or the ferry ticket counters. It's best to buy your tickets in advance, either at the counters or before boarding the ferry. Please note that ferry times in each direction are approximate, as Thailand operates on its own unique timeline. If you're feeling adventurous, you can also charter a speedboat from various points along the main beaches. The price typically ranges from 1,500 to 2,500 baht, depending on the number of passengers. If the boat has a "full" load, you'll only have to pay 300 baht. Another option is to book a day trip through a local agency. This usually includes minibus transportation from your hotel around 09:00, a ferry ride from Bali Hai Pier to one of the main beaches (which takes about half an hour), lunch, soft drinks, a return ferry around 16:00, and minibus transportation back to your hotel. Expect to pay around 500 to 600 baht for this all-inclusive experience. Back in April 2014, the standard return price for the ferry was only 150 baht, making it an affordable way to explore Ko Laan and its surrounding beauty. Don't miss out on this incredible opportunity!
