Nestled in the Belgian province of Vlaams Brabant, let us introduce you to the charming town of Keerbergen. With a population of 12,444, Keerbergen holds a rich history, particularly during World War II, where it served as the crucial command center protecting Antwerp from the Germans. Hotel Grand Veneur hosted the command center, managing calls related to V weapons. In 1932, Keerbergen Airport was inaugurated, initially serving baptisms but later taken over by the Germans for their own purposes. Eventually, the airport made way for a beautiful private lake. The surrounding area was transformed into an exclusive vacation destination, featuring elegant villas. Unfortunately, in recent years, Keerbergen's green charm has diminished, as woods continue to be replaced by modern apartment buildings. Regardless, Keerbergen remains a testament to its fascinating wartime past and offers a unique blend of history and natural beauty.
