Getting to Kata Beach in Phuket, Thailand, is an adventure in itself. Here are some transportation options for your convenience: - Minibus: From the airport, you have the option to take a minibus to Kata Beach. Although it may take up to 4 hours to reach your destination, this affordable option costs around 200 baht (as of Feb 2017). For more details, refer to the Phuket section. - Private Car: If you prefer a more comfortable and efficient ride, consider booking a private car. With prices around 700 baht and a travel duration of approximately 1 hour (depending on traffic), this option offers convenience and flexibility. Check the Get Out section for additional details. - Open Air Bus: If you're already in Phuket Town, hop on a small open air bus to Kata Beach. These buses, larger than a songthaew, charge only 40 baht (as of 30/04/2017). Look out for them at the old bus terminal number one or near the Day Market on Ranong St, west of the traffic/Fountain circle. Keep in mind that these buses initially pass by Kata Beach at a distance, making their first stop in nearby Karon Beach. They then wind back down to Kata, dropping you off near the beach where numerous hotels are located. Please note that the last public transit bus departs from Kata Beach to Phuket Town at 16:40, and the last bus from Phuket Town to Kata Beach leaves at 18:00.
