Get in
Coming to Huatulco in Mexico? Here's how you can get there. Huatulco International Airport (HUX) offers flights from Mexico City and Oaxaca City. Aeortucan also operates a daily flight from Huatulco to Puerto Escondido. During the winter months, you can find charter flights from major cities in the US and Canada. If you prefer a road trip, buses from Oaxaca City run daily and take around 8 hours. Once you arrive at Huatulco International Airport, you'll find yourself in a beautiful, open-air palapa-style airport. It's just a 10-20 minute drive to the areas of La Crucecita, Santa Cruz, and Tangolunda, where most hotels and accommodations are located. If you have a package deal, your bus transfer may be included. Otherwise, you have a few options for transportation: "authorized taxis" available at the airport, purchasing a ticket for an "authorized shuttle" at the airport, or arranging shuttle transport in advance. Keep in mind that the "authorized" transportation options tend to be more expensive than taxis outside the airport. If you're traveling light, you can even walk a short distance out to the main road and catch a non-airport taxi or local bus. However, if you're heading to farther destinations like Puerto Escondido, Puerto Angel, San Augustinillo, Zipolite, or Mazunte, it's best to take a taxi to the bus station in La Crucecita and catch a first-class bus there. For those arriving by cruise ship, you're in luck! Santa Cruz Bay has a pier for cruise ships, so keep an eye out for one in port. Enjoy your time in Huatulco!
