Escape to the pristine beauty of Havelock Island, nestled in the Indian Ocean. With its commitment to eco-friendly tourism, Havelock Island charms visitors with its untouched natural wonders. Unlike its crowded counterparts like Thailand, Havelock Island welcomes a fraction of tourists, allowing you to truly savor its tranquility. You'll be captivated by the leisurely pace of life, the warm hospitality of the locals, and the charming simplicity of the island's facilities. As you explore this hidden gem, you may notice that the beaches are numbered instead of named, although some like Radhanagar have earned beloved monikers. Beach #1 serves as the arrival port, while Beach #3 (also known as Govind Nagar) is the bustling junction at the island's center. Further along the road, you'll encounter Beach #5 (Vijay Nagar) near Dolphin Resort. However, the real highlight awaits at Beach #7, known as Radhanagar Beach, where paradise truly reveals itself with its breathtaking beauty. Plan your visit between mid-January and mid-May to enjoy the most favorable weather and ideal diving conditions. During this time, the sun shines brightly, casting its warm rays upon the crystal-clear sea. However, you'll want to avoid the monsoon season, which typically arrives in late May and lasts until the end of July, bringing strong winds, frequent rain, and limited underwater visibility. If you visit from August to November, you may experience occasional showers and slightly rougher seas, but don't let that discourage you. Diving can still be a thrilling adventure during this period. Just be aware that from December to early January, the weather takes a turn for the worse. While Havelock Island now offers two ATMs from SBI and Axis bank, it's advisable to bring sufficient cash from Port Blair, as these facilities may be limited. Additionally, certain items may be challenging to find in the local market, including specific brands of sun cream and mosquito repellent. So be prepared and plan ahead to make the most of your island getaway.
