There are various ways to travel to the picturesque Haute-Savoie region. If you prefer air travel, the two largest airports near Haute-Savoie are located in Lyon and Geneva. These airports are serviced by major international airlines, making it convenient for travelers from around the world. Additionally, there are two smaller airports in Grenoble and Chambery, offering flights to several European and African cities. For those who prefer train travel, Haute-Savoie is easily accessible with a short ride (about 1 1/2 hours) from Lyon. The high-speed train, known as the TGV, services the stations at Annecy and Annemasse. If you prefer to drive, the expressway between Annecy and Lyon takes approximately 2 hours. However, please note that tolls apply on these expressways. Additionally, Italy is nearby, and you can access it through the Mont Blanc tunnel. The entrance to the tunnel on the French side is in Chamonix. Keep in mind that crossing through the tunnel can be quite expensive.
