Understand
Guanacaste, located in the Northern Pacific region of Costa Rica, boasts a unique climate and lush ecosystem known as the Tropical Dry Forest. This region experiences a season with no rainfall, which creates a haven of warmness and blue skies from December to May. The dry tropical forest is home to a fascinating array of plant and animal species, including the iconic Howler Monkey, the majestic Black Iguana, the vibrant White-throated Magpie-Jay, and the stunning Turquoise-browed Motmot. Guanacaste's dry tropical forest, coupled with its pleasant climate, has made it a popular destination for tourists seeking a break from the humidity typically found in Central America. The region is dotted with all-inclusive resorts, offering a perfect getaway for visitors. Travelers can conveniently access Guanacaste through Liberia, one of Costa Rica's two international airports. Immerse yourself in the wonders of Guanacaste, where nature thrives under the clear skies and where adventure awaits at every turn.
Get in
Discover the breathtaking beauty of Guanacaste in Costa Rica, easily accessible with the opening of the new international airport in Liberia (LIR). Now you can fly directly from multiple US gateways, including Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, and Miami, straight to Guanacaste. If you prefer a more central location, Nocoya Guanacaste Airport (NCT) in the heart of the stunning Nicoya Peninsula is also a great option. Whether you choose LIR or NCT, you can quickly reach all the Pacific beach cities within a few hours by car or short domestic flight. To access Guanacaste's magnificent beaches from San Jose, you have the option to take a ferry from the vibrant coastal town of Puntarenas across the Golfo de Nicoya. From there, embark on an exciting adventure on the poorly paved roads that lead to numerous breathtaking beaches. However, for a more comfortable journey, we recommend taking the Puente de la Amistad (Bridge of the Friendship), a four-hour scenic drive from San Jose that will take you directly to the stunning Guanacaste beaches. If you prefer public transportation, buses are also available, although the travel time may be slightly longer. Choose your preferred route and get ready for the beach vacation of a lifetime!
