Get in
To get to the beautiful island of Fgl, you have a few options. If you're coming from the mainland, there is a car ferry that departs from Svin. Don't worry, if you're traveling on foot, you won't need a ticket. The ferry takes you to the main village of Degerby in western Fgl. If you're coming from Mariehamn, the capital of Åland, you can take a 30-minute drive east on the main road to Svin and catch the ferry from there. Alternatively, there are also buses that go between Mariehamn and Svin a couple of times per day. These buses depart from a terminal next to the public library of Mariehamn, but keep in mind that it may take a bit longer due to stopping in different villages along the way. If you're coming from Finland, you can take a car ferry from Galtby in Central Finland. These ferries travel through the entire land archipelago and make a stop in Fgl's northern port, ver. Please note that the ferries only depart from Finland once per day from Tuesday to Sunday, with no departures on Mondays. There is also the option to take the ferry from Lngns on the mainland. These ferries pass by ver in Fgl, so make sure to ask the crew to let you off there if you're planning to visit. Otherwise, they will continue on to other islands. If you're arriving in Fgl with your own boat, there is a marina next to the supermarket where you can dock and even fill up on fuel. When packing for your trip to Fgl, make sure to bring your own alcoholic beverages, as there is no liquor store on the island. The local supermarket only sells beer. It is recommended to buy your drinks before arriving on the island, as liquor stores in Finland can be quite expensive. Additionally, bring all the clothes and outdoor/camping gear you'll need, as there are no clothing or gear stores in Fgl. Some fishing gear can be bought at the K-mart.
