To reach Fira, which is the main town on the island, you'll need to travel approximately 6 km from the airport. From the airport, you have the option to take a taxi or a shared-ride shuttle to your destination. If you're arriving at the old port, there are three ways to reach your destination: by cable car, donkey, or by foot up the cliff face. From the new port, known as Athinios, you can take a taxi or a local bus, which might be crowded at times. Another option is to use a shuttle bus, which provides great value for money.
