Planning a trip to Finland? Good news! Finland is part of the Schengen Agreement, which means there are no border controls between countries that have signed and implemented this treaty. This includes the majority of European Union countries, except for Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania, and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland are also included. What does this mean for you? Well, if you have a visa granted for any Schengen member, it is valid in all other countries that have signed and implemented the treaty. However, it's important to note that not all EU members have signed the Schengen treaty, and not all Schengen members are part of the European Union. This may result in spot customs checks when traveling within Schengen but to/from a non-EU country, or requiring immigration clearance when traveling within the EU but to/from a non-Schengen country. For a more detailed understanding of how the Schengen Zone works and the entry requirements, check out our article on Travel in the Schengen Zone.
