Getting to Ferapontovo is a breeze if you have a car or don't mind hitchhiking. It's located 115km northwest of Vologda, just off the R-5 highway. If you're coming from Cherepovets, you can also reach Ferapontovo via Kirillov. However, be careful not to miss the turn to Kirillov, which is a few kilometers before Ferapontovo. From there, you can either hitchhike or walk to Ferapontovo, as buses are infrequent. The turn to Kirillov is pretty secluded, with only a forest and a bus stop, so make sure to ask the driver or conductor about it before your stop. The nearest shops and facilities are available in Ferapontovo. For a more direct route, you can take buses from Vologda or Cherepovets that go to Lipin Bor, Vytegra, and even Petrozavodsk. However, please note that the bus schedules can be limited, and some buses only operate on specific days of the week. It's best to check the timetable in advance. Keep in mind that buses can sometimes be late or even ahead of schedule, so it's a good idea to call the departing bus station to confirm the bus's status. If you prefer hitchhiking from Vologda, you can take a suburban bus from the central post office to reach the first Molochnoe.
