Founded in 1865, the city I am about to introduce to you holds great historical significance. It is the capital of the Republic of Kalmykia, a Buddhist region nestled within Russia. With a population of over 100,000 people, this vibrant city is a melting pot of cultures, predominantly Kalmyks, Russians, and various North Caucasian ethnicities. The Kalmyks, tracing their roots back to Mongolia, have been an integral part of Russian society for more than four centuries.
