With a population of over 100,000 people, this vibrant city is a melting pot of cultures, predominantly Kalmyks, Russians, and various North Caucasian ethnicities. The Kalmyks, tracing their roots back to Mongolia, have been an integral part of Russian society for more than four centuries.
