Are you ready to embark on an epic journey through El Salvador? The Pan-American highway beckons, offering a safe passage into this breathtaking country. Travel between the vibrant city of San Miguel in the East and the bustling San Salvador in the West, immersing yourself in the rich culture and stunning landscapes along the way. Starting from the San Miguel bus terminal, keep an eye out for signs indicating bus destinations, including the enchanting El Cuco. Buses depart regularly and whisk you away on a two-hour adventure, with a fare of just $1. Alternatively, treat yourself to the convenience of a $30 taxi ride or take advantage of hotel shuttles offering transport from San Miguel to Playa El Esteron via El Cuco. If you're arriving in San Miguel via long-distance bus services, bear in mind that you'll be dropped off in a different part of the city, requiring a separate bus ride to "Terminal" at an additional cost of 20 cents US$. Don't worry, though – there are plenty of buses heading in the right direction, so just ask around. For those coming from El Tunco, San Salvador, or even Lon in Nicaragua, there are options available including shuttles and even an exciting boat ride from Potos in Nicaragua to La Union. From La Union, hop on a short chicken bus or taxi to reach El Cuco. Keep in mind that essential services like supermarkets and ATMs are not available within a 30km radius of El Cuco. Make sure to plan accordingly by bringing enough cash and groceries for your stay. While there is a small market selling essentials, anything beyond that will require a trip to San Miguel, whether by driving, taking the bus, or hiring a taxi to access ATM services or visit a supermarket. If you're staying at one of the posh resorts, credit cards are accepted. Get ready for a thrilling adventure as you explore the wonders of El Salvador!
