Trabzon, located in the northeastern corner of the country, is the main transportation hub of the region. It serves as the gateway for travelers coming from big cities in Turkey and Western Europe.

• With its sole airport, Trabzon provides convenient links to major cities in Turkey and a few Western European cities.
• There are frequent bus services from cities like Istanbul and Ankara, with Trabzon and Rize being the main destinations. However, due to the long distances, a bus ride from Istanbul can take a full day and night.
• Travelers can also reach Trabzon from Georgian cities Batumi and Tbilisi, as well as from Baku (Azerbaijan) and Yerevan (Armenia), although these journeys can be quite long.
• Outside of the winter months, there is a daily ferry connecting Trabzon to the Russian Black Sea Coast, as well as a weekly ferry from Istanbul. In winter, a weekly ferry to Sochi is available, weather permitting.
