Atlantis reef is situated in the Castle Rocks restricted zone, a protected area that has allowed marine life to thrive for many years. It has remained untouched by divers, making it a pristine and unexplored location. The Pillars of Hercules, two awe-inspiring pinnacles, mark the site and are rarely seen due to their small size and elusive nature. However, in 2011, the dive boat Animal Ocean discovered this hidden gem. They reported an exceptionally beautiful reef area with the pinnacles almost reaching the surface. These majestic formations, shielded by the Seal Rock at Partridge Point, remain intact and undisturbed. Explorations also revealed other remarkable parts of the reef, including high-profile areas near the pinnacles, offshore expanses, and intricate broken formations closer to the shore. The Council for Geoscience's GPS survey confirmed the location of Atlantis reef to be one of the sections identified in their side-scan survey conducted in 2011.
