Texas was then annexed by the US in 1845, which led to the Mexican-American War. After America emerged victorious, there was a huge wave of migration to the area. In the late 19th century, the convergence of cattle trails and railroads made Dallas and Fort Worth significant business hubs, fueling further population growth. The 20th century brought even more trade and industrial growth to the region, attracting people from far and wide. This growth has continued into the 21st century, thanks to our pro-business state government and the general trend of urbanization. Now, let's talk about the people here. Most of us dress in standard American fashion, so don't be surprised if you don't see cowboy boots and hats on everyone. While some individuals proudly sport this traditional attire, there are plenty of stores selling such merchandise, which makes for popular gifts. Texans, in general, take pride in their heritage, so you'll often come across symbols of Texas and Southern pride, including the display of controversial Confederate States of America emblems. The people of the Metroplex tend to lean conservative and are religious, but this is a diverse region with a large minority population and people from all over the country.
