Get in
Getting to Cuzama is a piece of cake! Whether you decide to take a bus or rent a car, you'll have no trouble reaching this amazing destination. If you choose to drive, it will only take you about 45 minutes from Mrida. Once you arrive in Cuzama, head towards the town square where you'll find the church and town hall. Take a right turn here and look for the road that leads to Chunkann and the cenotes' entrance.
If you prefer taking the bus, make your way to the Noreste bus terminal in Mrida. This is the second class bus terminal located at Calle 50 x 65 x 67. The bus fare is around 32 pesos. Alternatively, you can hop on a colectivo near the bus station. These white vans are cheaper and faster, costing only 24 pesos. Just ask any driver and they'll point you in the right direction. The colectivos back to Merida leave from the same spot where they drop you off in Cuzama.
Once you arrive in Cuzama, the adventure begins! The cenote entrance is about 3.3 km (2 miles) from the center of Cuzama. If you arrived by bus or colectivo, you'll be dropped off in front of the church. From here, you can either walk following the signs or take a thrilling mototaxi ride. The mototaxi drivers will charge you 60 pesos each way.
After reaching the beginning of the rail track, you'll board a horse-drawn cart that will transport you to the three cenotes. The cost for this unforgettable experience is 350 pesos. Remember, the more people in your group, the less you pay per person. Throughout the trip, a guide will look after you, taking care of the horse and cart, leading you to the cenotes, and providing torches in the dark. Don't forget to bring snacks and water, as the whole adventure will take approximately 3 hours.
