Getting There If you're planning a trip to Culpeper, Virginia, there are several convenient ways to get there. By Car From Washington D.C., hop on I-66 West and take Exit 43A towards Warrenton. Follow Rt. 29 South for about 40 miles until you reach the first Culpeper exit - Business 29. Take Business 29 and drive for 3 miles until you reach the Town of Culpeper. Turn left onto Davis Street at the third traffic light and continue until you reach the Train Depot/Visitors Center. If you're coming from Charlottesville, take Rt. 29 North and drive approximately 45 miles to Culpeper. Take the second exit at Culpeper Business 29 and turn right onto Davis Street at the fifth traffic light. Follow Davis Street all the way to the Train Depot/Visitors Center. From Richmond, take I-95 North for around 60 miles to Fredericksburg exit 130. Take the Culpeper/Rt. 3 West exit and continue on Rt. 3 West for 35 miles. Once in Culpeper, turn right onto Main Street at the second traffic light. Then, at the next traffic light, turn right again onto Davis Street. Follow Davis Street until you reach the Train Depot/Visitors Center. If you're traveling from Harrisonburg, take I-81 to I-66 East. Continue on I-66 East and take exit 6 at Front Royal - Rt. 522 South. Drive on Rt. 522 South for approximately 45 miles until you reach Culpeper. Once in Culpeper, make a right turn at the traffic light intersection of Rt. 522 and Main Street. Proceed to the next traffic light and turn left onto Davis St. Follow Davis Street until you arrive at the Train Depot/Visitors Center. By Train For a unique and scenic journey, consider taking the train to Culpeper. Amtrak offers daily passenger service to Culpeper and other destinations north and south on the Cardinal, Crescent, and Northeast Regional lines. You can travel north to Boston, New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C., west to Chicago, and south to Charlottesville, Staunton, Atlanta, and even New Orleans. To book your train ticket, you can call Amtrak at (800)USA-RAIL or visit their website at www.amtrak.com. If preferred, you can also purchase your ticket with a secured Amtrak reservation number at the embarkation point. Please note that the Culpeper Station does not have a ticket agent or QUIK-TRAK machine, so plan accordingly. For detailed schedule information, it's best to contact Amtrak directly. By Air If you're coming from farther away, Culpeper can also be accessed through various airports. The nearest international airports include Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) at 58 miles away, Richmond International Airport (RIC) at 86 miles away, and Baltimore Washington Int. Airport (BWI) at 105 miles away. If you prefer a smaller airport, Charlottesville Regional Airport (CHO) is approximately 40 miles to the south. Additionally, Culpeper has its own growing local airport, Culpeper Regional Airport (CJR), located just 7 miles north of the town. While it primarily receives charter flights, it serves as a convenient option for some travelers.
