The Crystal Coast, located in North Carolina, is a fantastic vacation destination that attracts a large number of visitors during the summer months. While the area experiences hot and humid temperatures, the refreshing sea breezes from the Atlantic Ocean, particularly in the Bogue Banks area, make it much more pleasant. In addition to the regular tourists, there are also part-time residents who own property in the area. However, during the off-season, the Crystal Coast becomes quieter, with many shops and restaurants temporarily closing their doors. Beyond the bustling settlements that technically end at Beaufort, lies the enchanting rural area known as "Down East" or the Core Sound region. This region, spanning from the North River to Cedar Island, is filled with charming waterfront fishing villages. The residents here keep the area's traditions alive through their craftsmanship and unique dialect, providing a glimpse into the rich heritage of Carteret County.
