Understand
Corinth, a city with both ancient and modern charm, awaits your visit. It's important to note that there are two Corinths: the new Corinth and the ancient one. When people say "Corinth," they are typically referring to the new city, where you'll find all the archaeological sites just a short distance away from the main town. With a population of 37,000, Corinth has a storied past that dates back to at least 6000 BC. However, the town has weathered many devastating earthquakes that have decimated its old structures. But fear not, for the spirit of Corinth lives on, ready to captivate you with its fascinating history and intriguing ruins!
Get in
Getting to Corinth from Athens is quick and convenient, with various transportation options available such as buses, trains, and cars. To explore the archaeological sites and ruins of the "old" Corinth, you can first travel to the new Corinth and then take a bus from there. Simply head to the center of new Corinth and ask people for directions to the bus stop. Look for a bus with "ARXAIA" written on it, and you can purchase the ticket onboard. As the bus takes you through the old Corinth, consider staying on for a while to enjoy a budget-friendly tour. One recommended stop is the ancient theater, which you can ask the bus driver about. Alternatively, if you are entering through Patras, Corinth makes for a convenient stopover on your way to Athens or as a base for exploring the area's rich history.
