Consuegra, a town with a rich history dating back to the 6th century BC, has seen the rise and fall of empires. The Romans left their mark on the town with impressive structures like bridges, roads, and even a circus. After the Arab domination, Consuegra became part of Castille and witnessed a fierce battle that briefly brought it back under Arab rule. The village and county were later donated to the Knights Hospitallier, who played a significant role in establishing Christian rule in the area. During the Peninsular Wars, Consuegra faced devastation as French troops looted and destroyed the town. However, the town persevered, and in 1927, it was officially declared a city, regaining its prestigious status. Located 704 meters above sea level, Consuegra offers breathtaking views and spans an impressive area of 358 square kilometers. While its population has slightly decreased in recent years due to migration to larger cities, Consuegra remains a place of historical significance and natural beauty.
