Chapec is a vibrant city in Brazil, nestled 400km inland and about 100km from the border with Argentina. With a population of around 400,000 people, it is the 5th largest city in the state and boasts a thriving economy centered around the meat industry, including cattle, swine, and poultry. But there's more to Chapec than just its economic prowess. This city is known for its lively fairs, attracting visitors from far and wide. Additionally, sports enthusiasts will recognize Chapec as the home of the Chapecoense football team, which played in Brazil's first division. Tragically, the team suffered a devastating plane crash in 2016 near Medellin, Colombia, claiming the lives of players, coaches, press, and crew members. However, Chapec continues to rise and celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2017, showcasing its resilience and spirit.
