The area consists of several closely spaced urban areas, including Allerd, Lillerd, Lynge, Uggelse, and Birkerd. These once sleepy villages have transformed into bustling hubs of activity since the construction of a railway to Hillerd in the mid-19th century. Allerd and Birkerd, in particular, experienced significant growth with the addition of railway stations and the expansion of the S-train commuter network in 1934. However, despite this growth, patches of green forests, farms, and picturesque lakes can still be found nestled between the built-up areas.
