For an adventurous journey, you can drive from Meo Vac to Cao Bang, making a stopover at Bao Lac town. The road is nice, albeit a bit underdone and shaky towards the end. If you're coming from Ha Giang, you can break the journey in Bao Lam and then take a local bus to Cao Bang. There are many local buses available from 6 am to 1 pm.
