Get in
Getting to Canyon de Guadalupe is an exhilarating adventure that will test your driving skills. To reach this hidden oasis, it is recommended to have a four-wheel drive vehicle with high clearance, although it is technically possible to get there without it. To begin your journey, you will need to enter Mexico from either Tijuana, Tecate, or Mexicali. From Mexicali, drive 20 miles west on highway 2 towards La Rumorosa. If you're coming from Tecate or Tijuana, drive east through La Rumorosa, descending down into Laguna Salada. Once you enter the Laguna Salada section of the freeway, keep an eye out for a large, clearly marked freeway sign indicating the dirt road that leads to Canyon de Guadalupe. The 30-mile journey on this decent dirt road will take you straight until you reach an enormous olive plantation. At the end of the plantation, you'll see a small sign indicating a gentle right-hand turn. Follow this road until you spot a mountain with shallow caves on your right. Congratulations, you've reached the final stretch of road to Guadalupe Canyon Oasis Hot Springs. Brace yourself, as this part can be challenging, especially if you don't have at least eight inches of clearance. It is highly recommended to have a four-wheel drive vehicle at this point. If you prefer a more relaxed option, you can take the Hot Springs Shuttle offered through Baja Trek (BajaTrek.com).
