Explore the vibrant city of Giza, a popular destination for travelers seeking food, accommodation, and entertainment beyond central Cairo. The heart of the action is El Haram Street, the main transport artery that runs through the district. In the past, the desert plateau of Giza was set to be the site of the Grand Museum of Egypt, a magnificent project aimed at replacing the old and outdated Egyptian National Museum in Midan Tahrir. Unfortunately, the completion of this ambitious endeavor has been put on hold indefinitely, leaving visitors to marvel at the existing wonders of the area. Not long ago, El Haram Street was a humble dirt road winding through fertile fields, leading to the small village of Giza nestled next to the pyramid complex. Today, Giza has undergone a dramatic transformation, with bustling roads, modern apartments, vibrant retail areas, and lively nightclubs taking over the once serene landscape. The city has expanded to the edge of the desert plateau, attracting both locals and tourists alike. While the rapid development has had its share of challenges – social, economic, and aesthetic – the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities is now working to regulate and guide future growth, particularly in areas surrounding the Pyramids themselves. Discover the dynamic evolution of Giza and be amazed by its captivating blend of ancient history and modern allure.
