Another option is to fly from Surabaya airport to Jember Airport, and then take a taxi to Arjasa bus station. From there, you can catch a bus to Bondowoso. If you are coming from Denpasar (BALI), you can take a taxi to the bus terminal (Ubung bus terminal) and then choose between an economical bus or an AC bus to Situbondo on Java. The journey takes between 5 and 8 hours and includes a ferry ride. The last AC bus from Situbondo leaves around 9.00pm. From Situbondo, you can take a 20-seat bus to Bondowoso, which takes about 1 hour and costs 8000 IDR. Please note that the nearest airport and train station are in Jember, and you can take a taxi from there to Bondowoso. When traveling by bus, it is important to pay the bus crew when the bus is moving to ensure you have a seat.
