Asky, a municipality located in the southern half of an island, is a rapidly growing area with approximately 23,000 inhabitants. The most important population centers, such as Kleppest and its surroundings, can be found on the island. Ever since the Asky bridge was constructed in 1992, the island has become easily accessible from Bergen, making it even closer to some parts of Bergen than its own city center. It is no wonder that many Bergen citizens not only historically, but also presently, own cabins on Asky.
