Altin Depe, meaning "Golden Hill," is an ancient settlement that dates back to the Eneolithic and Bronze Ages, specifically the 3rd and beginning of the 2nd millennium BC. The settlement was eventually abandoned around 1600 BC, possibly due to soil exhaustion or changes in climate. During the early Neolithic period (5th millennium BC), Altin Depe flourished as a large settlement covering approximately 6 hectares. It reached its peak at the end of the 3rd and beginning of the 2nd millennium BC. Altin Depe had strong connections with the contemporary civilizations of Mesopotamia [1] and the Harappa culture [2] in Hindustan, making it a significant hub of cultural exchange during its time.
