In the 17th century, a vibrant coastal town named Alibag was brought to life by Sarkhel Kanhoji Aangre, the naval chief of King Shivaji's Kingdom. Situated in Maharashtra, India, Alibag is known for its beautiful beaches and rich history. Originally called "Kulaba," the town's main village was Ramnath, and it was home to a wealthy man named Ali, who had magnificent gardens filled with mangoes and coconuts. The locals affectionately referred to these gardens as "Alichi Bagh," meaning "Gardens of Ali." As time passed, the name "Alichi Bagh" transformed into the simpler, yet still charming, "Alibag." Today, Alibag serves as the headquarters of the Raigad district.
